NFL GAME 2019 : New England Patriots Live Stream
The Patriots are now a little less than three weeks away from their season opener with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They’ve played two preseason games, and engaged in joint practice sessions with both the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans.
Plenty of camp battles have been waged with players on the bubble still trying to cement their roster spots. With that in mind, here’s our third crack at projecting the Patriots 53-man roster:
MAKING THE TEAM
Tom Brady
Brian Hoyer
Jarrett Stidham
FALLING SHORT
The Herald’s Take: Brady has looked sharp during both weeks of joint practices, most recently carving up the Titans during the two-day set against Mike Vrabel’s crew. His quick release and processing skills were clearly on display. He still hasn’t played in a game, but that should happen this week against Carolina. The only real question in this group is how many to keep. Has Stidham shown enough to slash Hoyer? After an impressive debut against the Lions, the rookie fourth round draft pick’s play was a bit more uneven against the Titans. While he threw a number of balls that were nearly intercepted, he still showed off his considerable skills going 7-for-7 for 89 yards on the game-winning drive. As for the veteran Hoyer, he wasn’t great against the Titans, but he’s had a good camp overall. So we’re still not ditching Hoyer just yet. But it’s close. Meanwhile, the Danny Etling experiment as a wide receiver didn’t last long. He was released and picked up by the Falcons.
